IN 2008... Yahoo and Mac Afee joined together in a scam to increase their business by "making the Internet more safe". They claimed to run a test, which was shown to be bogus, that determined certain sites as "unsafe". If one read the fine print, you would discover that by "unsafe" they meant that if you filled out a form on a site, in which you gave your email address, AND that email was posted on the site, you would receive spam emails. (This is true of any email address posted on any website. It is the reason the http://snowwowl.com website, tells people that, BEFORE they fill out any form.) This hardly makes a site "unsafe". Anyway, I get ahead of myself...At the time, out of 15 websites on one server, Yahoo and Mac Afee targeted only the two Native American websites. Although most of the sites on the server had the same forms, and were posted in the same manner. On top of that one of the sites, had not posted any new email addresses, which showed that the "test" wasn't even done. I could get into the whole story, but it would be easier for you to read about it at WHY BOYCOTT NOW... Eventually, after many "false positives", and threats of legal action, Yahoo and Mac Afee stopped marking safe sites as "unsafe." However, they never acknowledged what they had done, that possibly there were errors, or most importantly, that they had made people remove their forms and emails from their websites, for no reason. As you can read at http://snowwowl.com they did not "cave", and remove their forms and email addresses, which would have stripped the site, instead they began a boycott of Yahoo and Mac Afee. They are continuing the boycott until Yahoo and Mac Afee publicly admit what they did. We have joined the boycott and ask that you do the same. If you have a yahoo email address, get a gmail address. (You will be amazed at how little spam mail you get. I opened a yahoo email account and had 12 spam emails the day I opened it, and no one knew my address but me.) If you have Mac Afee antivirus, switch to Avira (http://free-av.com) a free anti-virus, which beats all other anti-viruses. If we don't stand up to these corporations, they will be dictating what can and can not be on the Internet. Can you imagine being told that you can't have forms or emails on your website, or it will be forever marked as unsafe, while other websites can do what they want? Pass this info along.~ D |
